Join Concept2 CTS at the World Rowing Championships

Aug 14, 2017

Concept2 CTS will be on site at the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, September 23–October 1. The Concept2 CTS trailer will be located in the athlete area where the CTS regatta service team will be available to competitors who need oar repairs and service. There will also be a CTS booth in the spectator area, where people will be able to try out the new BikeErg, as well as Concept2 indoor rowers and SkiErg, when not watching the competition.

The World Championships is exciting—it’s Olympic-caliber racing in non-Olympic years. This is the first time in 23 years that the World Championships will be held in the USA! Come join us! These are some of the athletes and events we’ll be watching. (World Rowing provides a helpful explanation of boat classes.): Continue Reading ›

The BikeErg Travels to the CrossFit Games

Aug 11, 2017

The Concept2 CTS team traveled to Madison, Wisconsin, for the CrossFit Games as it debuted in its new location. The city met athletes, spectators and vendors alike with open arms. An event was even named after the city, “The Madison Triplet”, where weighted sandbags were encased in yellow and aptly named "Cheese Curds" to reflect the popular Wisconsin dish.

The indoor rower has been an integral part of the CrossFit Games since 2007. Continue Reading ›

Better Ways to Carry and Store Oars at Regattas

Nov 12, 2014

At the 2014 Head Of The Charles Regatta, we introduced a simple new oar carrier that holds four sweep oars or two pair of sculls. Made of Baltic Birch Plywood, six carriers can be cut from a single 5’ x 5’ piece. You can access the plans to build your own, or—as of early December—you can purchase carriers directly from Concept2 for $25 each. We'll sell them like “unfinished furniture.” You can finish them in your team colors for easy identification. Continue Reading ›

In Development: ErgCoach

Dec 21, 2011

I enjoyed the opportunity to travel to Saratoga Springs, New York with Peter Dreissigacker for the Joy of Sculling Conference December 9–11. Jim Joy has done an amazing job of building this conference into one of the largest gatherings of rowing coaches from both the US and Canada. The success of this conference was further confirmed by several of the award recipients who mentioned that they attended when they were first starting out as coaches, and the influence it had on their careers. I was impressed with the variety of talks and the different coaching backgrounds that the conference presented to the attendees. Continue Reading ›

A Color for Every Crew

Dec 19, 2011

A lot of us have seen it before: a brand new set of oars in the boathouse, just begging to be rowed, but they can’t be used until the blades get the school-color treatment. Or maybe it was race day when you realized that the paint job you had agonized over a few days before is already peeling! Fortunately, we’re now expanding Concept2’s blade color options to 53 colors in order to make it easy to get great-looking oars. Continue Reading ›

Model D vs. Dynamic: 2k Tests with Peter Dreissigacker

Sep 01, 2011

I am looking ahead to the indoor training season and realize that more people will be training on our newest indoor rower, the Dynamic erg, this winter. Comparing scores between the Model D and the Dynamic erg is the subject of speculation. The flywheel and monitor components are identical on the Model D and Dynamic, but the athlete may row differently on each. The results experienced may be unexpected. Continue Reading ›
