For nearly 40 years, the Concept2 Million Meter Club has been celebrating members who have accumulated one million meters or more on a Concept2 Erg. Participation is free through the Concept2 Online Logbook or ErgData, and every meter counts toward lifetime totals. What started out just for the RowErg, has since grown to include clubs for the SkiErg and BikeErg.
When members reach a million meter mark (1 million, 5 million, 10 million etc.) for any given Concept2 Erg, they can receive certificates, pins, shirts, bags, and other merch (in eligible countries) to celebrate the athletic feat. This can all be done in the Million Meter Club section of the Concept2 Online Logbook. These tokens commemorating each million meter milestone have become prized possessions for many members. More than 100,000 people have rowed, skied, or biked at least one million meters, and that number continues to grow. We're grateful for the dedication that each Million Meter Club member brings to the Concept2 community each day.
A million meters can sound intimidating at first, but most members reach the milestone gradually. For example, it takes 200 5000 meter rows to hit one million meters. For many members, training becomes part of a regular routine. Over time, the benefits often extend beyond fitness, helping build confidence, discipline, and consistency in other areas of life. Members come from different backgrounds and may be pursuing different goals, but each has a personal reason for sticking with it and making it to one million meters or more.
For Norway's Torbjørn Laundal, who has rowed more than 29 million meters, his reason to keep showing up was for his family. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he turned to rowing to stay strong enough to keep up with his daughter and continue living life on his own terms. Losing more than 100 pounds was an unexpected benefit, but his focus has always been on staying as active and independent as possible while living with MS.

For Angela Hart (shown above), a Concept2 Certified Rowing Instructor since 1997, the love for her Concept2 Model E and becoming a Million Meter Club member was fueled by a passion to stay active and fit. She has since added a BikeErg and SkiErg to her home gym as well. "I love using the Concep2 Trifecta of amazing equipment", she says. More than four decades after she first started rowing and over 30 million meters later, Hart continues to add meters across the RowErg, BikeErg and SkiErg.
In 2022, we expanded our Kid’s Distance Club to mimic the Million Meter Club to encourage those 16 years of age and younger to start logging meters. Just like the Million Meter Club, the Kid’s Distance Club is all through the Online Logbook. There is a club for the BikeErg, SkiErg, and RowErg, and there are six total meter levels to progress through. Just like the Million Meter Club, there are pins and certificates to commemorate the achievements as well!
Although Million Meter Club members start for different reasons, they become part of a larger community connected by shared milestones (or should we say meterstones). Regardless of a member's athletic background, everyone has a commitment to a long-term goal. The Million Meter Club is both an invitation and a challenge to join thousands of people around the world working towards a common benchmark.
If you are thinking about tackling a big goal, or want to join a community to stay accountable, consider joining the Concept2 Million Meter Club! To get involved and to learn more about the Concept2 Million Meter Club, head here: Million Meter Club
