mountain biker jumping over the bikeerg Powered by sport. Driven by community. That is the essence of Concept2.

We are deeply proud of, and inspired by, the many communities of Concept2 users. For these reasons, we're excited to be joining the cycling community for the first time at the Sea Otter Classic, April 20–23, 2023, in Monterey, California. The Sea Otter Classic has come to be known as the largest and premier cycling and outdoor sports festival in North America.

In addition to a large vendor village with hundreds of exhibitors, the Sea Otter Classic includes bike racing for all ages and levels, product demos, recreational cycling tours and more. You’ve seen Concept2 at rowing regattas or supporting Nordic skiing events, but this is the first trip of its kind for the Concept2 crew.

We are eager to introduce the Concept2 BikeErg to the larger cycling community at the Sea Otter Classic and share the benefits of cross-training on the SkiErg and RowErg. In a recent blog post with PerformX's Todd Schumlick, long-time trainer of elite action sports athletes, Todd talks about the benefits of using all three ergs for training some of the top riders in the world. However, you don’t need to be one of the top athletes in your sport to enjoy the benefits of cross-training on our ergs. It's an excellent way to add volume and give your muscles some variation while continuing to train the cardiovascular system.

Just like the RowErg and SkiErg are rooted in the sports of rowing and cross-country skiing, the BikeErg was inspired by the sport of cycling, and its design is based on our own experience and love of the sport. Concept2 employees often spend their free time in the summer riding their bikes here in the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont, while using ergs on rainy days or throughout the colder, wetter months. Here's a collection of our favorite BikeErg workouts for outdoor cycling.

If you’re planning to be at the Sea Otter Classic, please stop by and say hello. If you’re like us and looking forward to getting back out on your bike this spring, we hope you’ll find the above-mentioned resources helpful for your training.
