General Questions
- Does the ranking use "cookies"?
-
Yes. When you successfully create a profile and log in, our web site stores a small text file called a cookie on your computer to confirm that you have correctly logged in. If you are unable to enter a result after creating a new profile it is usually due to the 'cookie' setting on your browser. When you successfully create a profile and log in, our web site stores a small text file called a cookie on your computer to confirm that you have correctly logged in. If you have cookies turned off on your browser, our web site is unable to tell that you have logged in, and as a result you will be unable to create a new result under your name (you will still be able to use the ranking pages). To fix this problem, you will need to set your browser to accept cookies. This should allow you to enter a new result after you have created a new profile.
- When do the rankings start and end each year?
-
The Concept2 Online Logbook and World Rankings season runs from May 1st to April 30th. Each May 1st, the previous 12 months worth of data is stored in one large access-only file, and a new year begins with a blank slate.
- I'm having trouble logging out. What do I do?
-
First, clear your cache. This is done on most browsers under Tools > Internet Options or Tools > Options. If this still does not help, try deleting your cookies. This can be done through your browser or by clicking the "Reset Cookies" link on the ranking login page. You can also manually delete your cookies by locating your cookies directory (Windows/Cookies on most computers) and deleting the cookie files found there.
Profiles and Logging In
- I am having trouble logging in. What's wrong?
-
Trouble logging in is usually caused by your computer's inability to set a cookie. Two immediate things to try are clearing your cache and deleting any corrupt cookies your computer may have.
Your computer also may also experience trouble if your computer is set up with any kind of internet appliance (home router with firewall protection, etc.) or connects to the internet using WebTV.
- What should I do if my email address changes?
-
You can change any information in your personal profile, including your email address as follows:
- Log into your personal logbook.
- Click Profile at the top of the page.
- Click Edit Profile and make the necessary changes.
- Press Enter or click Update at the bottom of the page to save the changes.
- Can I set up additional profiles using the same User Name?
-
No, the User Name must be unique for each individual.
- Can I set up additional profiles using the same email address?
-
Yes, as long as everyone using the same email address has a unique user name set up for him or herself.
- What do I do if I can't remember my User Name?
-
On the log in page, click Forgot your user name?. This will open up a page that prompts you for your email address. You will then receive an email providing your User Name and Password.
- What do I do if I can't remember my Password?
-
If you don't remember your password, enter your user name in the User Name field, leave the Password field blank and click Login. You'll be prompted with your password hint. If this hint doesn't help you remember your password, you'll need to use the Forgot your user name? link on the log in page. This will take you to a page that prompts you for your email address. You will then receive an email at that address listing your User Name and Password.
- Can I delete my own profile and if so, how?
-
No, you cannot delete your own profile. Only Concept2 can do that, however you can flag a profile for deletion by doing the following:
- Log into the profile that you want to delete.
- Click Profile at the top of the page.
- Click Edit Profile.
- Put the text remove11 (the word remove with the number 11, no spaces) in the Message for Others to See field.
The next time Concept2 deletes all profiles flagged in such a manner, yours will be deleted.
Logging Workouts In Logbook
- I've created a new profile but I can't enter a result.
-
See “Does the ranking use cookies?” above. If you experience an inability to enter a result after creating a new profile it is usually caused by the 'cookie' setting on your browser. When you successfully create a profile and log in, our web site stores a small text file called a cookie on your computer to confirm that you have correctly logged in. If you have cookies turned off on your computer, our web site is unable to tell that you have logged in, and as a result you will be unable to create a new result under your name (you will still be able to use the ranking pages). To fix this problem, view your properties/cookies and set the option to 'accept cookies'. This should allow you to enter a new result after you have created a new profile.
- I made a mistake in a workout entry? How can I correct this?
-
Click the pencil icon next to the entry you want to change in the your logbook. This will take you to an edit screen where you can make changes.
- Do on-water meters count toward the total for the Million Meter Club or Honor Board?
-
On-water pieces do not count toward the Million Meter Club totals but they are included in the Honor Board totals.
- How can I delete a workout from my log?
-
- In your logbook, click
next to the workout you wish want to delete in your logbook. - On the next screen, click Delete Result to confirm deletion from your logbook.
- In your logbook, click
- What do H and L mean?
-
L is for Lightweight—165 pounds or less for men and 135 pounds or less for women. H is for heavyweight—anything over those lightweight limits. Even though you may have entered a weight in your profile, you still need to designate a weight for every piece that you enter.
- To cover multiple past workouts, can I enter in one mass entry?
-
Yes, you can. You may want to make a note to yourself in the 'Comments' field of your entry. If the workouts are from the prior year's logbook (the ranking year runs from May 1–April 30), then these meters should be entered as monthly totals in the History section of your logbook under Historical Meters.
- How can I change the view settings to be able to see more or fewer workouts on my logbook page?
-
In the blue box above your workouts that's titled Season, you will see text that reads, for example, "Showing 8/8 Set". Change the first number to the number of workouts you want to view at a time, then click Set.
Example:

- How can I see last year's logbook?
-
To see any previous season's logbook:
- Click History at the top of the page.
- Click a year link under Archived Results.
- Why is the total number of meters in my main log page different from the total number of meters showing up in the Honor Board?
-
If you have an entry of greater than 101,000 meters in your current season's logbook, those meters will not be added into the total as they are often viewed as "catch-up" meters, perhaps from a past season. Lump sum meters should be added either under History if they are meters from a past ranking season or as several smaller workouts of less than 101,000 meters.
Ranking Workouts and Viewing Rankings
- How can I see last year's rankings?
-
To see prior season's rankings, select the year you want to see from the search criteria on the main rankings page.
- How do I rank a workout?
-
To rank a workout, you'll first need to enter a workout in your personal logbook. In your logbook, each workout that's eligible for the ranking (being of a distance or time that matches one of the ranking categories) has a blue "rank" link in the Status column. Click on this link to rank the piece.
- How can I verify my result in the rankings?
-
If your piece is in the top 3, it must be 'verified' in order to be assigned a place number in the ranking. Once it's verified, the Source IND will change to IND_V. To flag your piece as 'verified' and have a place number assigned in the ranking, you can use the verification code from your PM3 or PM4. Read more on how to access the PM3/PM4 verification code. If you have an older Performance Monitor, you may email ranking@concept2.com after you have entered it into the ranking with the following information:
- Your age
- Your email address used for the ranking
- Your first and last name and the country you live in
- Details of your row (time, distance, location)
- The location of the rowing machine used (top 3 ranking spots must be rowed on a publicly accessible machine)
- Your witness contact information
- Your user name that you use to log on to the ranking
- I entered a time and ranked it, but it doesn't show up on the Ranking.
-
This problem is usually related to the birth date entered in your profile. The birth date must be entered as MM/DD/YYYY. European date formats may not display your piece in the correct age category. You may have also transposed the year in your date (i.e., you entered 1397 instead of 1937).
- If I have a ranked piece in a given ranking category (let's say 5,000 meters) and I enter a faster time for that 5,000 meters, do I need to unrank my slower time in order to rank my faster time?
-
When you enter a faster time and click the rank button to rank it, the slower time will automatically unrank itself so that you will only have one time ranked for that category.
- How do I delete a ranking piece?
-
On the Ranked Workouts page, click
next to the workout you want to delete. This does not remove the piece for your logbook; it simply removes it from the Rankings. You can only delete ranked workouts from the current season.
- Can I rank an on-water piece?
-
No. On-water pieces are not eligible for the Rankings.
- What do "IND", "IND_V", "RACE", "RowPro", "C2Log" sources mean on the ranking page?
-
The entry's SOURCE field is determined by how the piece was entered into the ranking.
IND is any piece entered by an individual (like yourself).
IND_V is a piece first entered by an individual and then verified with a PM3/PM4 verification code or by Concept2 having met the requirement of being rowed in a public rowing location with a witness.
C2Log will appear for pieces that have been uploaded directly from a person's logbook using the Concept2 LogCard Utility Transfer version 6.0 or higher.
RACE is a piece entered by Concept2 into the ranking from a race results disk from race organizers.
RowPro is entered as a RowPro result from individuals like yourself who are using RowPro to upload their workouts. These entries contain an embedded Rowfile that other RowPro users can download and row against stroke by stroke. For more information see www.digitalrowing.com.
Note: The IND_V, RACE or C2Log source is required in order for a piece to be considered as a world record row. A piece rowed with the IND source will not qualify as a world record. - If a birthday puts me into the next ranking age category, can I have two different pieces ranked for the same distance—each under a different age category?
-
No, you will have to choose which piece you want to rank. You can only have one ranking entry per event per season regardless of age.
- Why are some people listed twice in the same ranking?
-
In some cases an individual may appear twice when they have input their own times, and then had their race results sent to us by the race organizers. We are working on a better system for consolidating records. Until then you can either choose race results only or individual results only when entering ranking criteria.
- What does the
icon mean? -
This means that there is a photo attached to the member's profile. Clicking the icon will display their photo. If you would like to submit your own photo for your profile, you can upload a photo on the Profile page of your logbook.
- What does the
icon mean? -
This means that you can email that person. This is a private email feature which encourages communication between ranking members, while never displaying any actual email addresses. Members can determine whether they want to receive email by setting their personal "Ranking Member Email" preference in their profile.
World Records
- How do I rank a record-breaking 2000 meter time?
-
Record-breaking 2000 meter times cannot be ranked by you. We will rank these times for you. Furthermore, all record-breaking 2000 meter pieces must be rowed at an official Concept2 sanctioned indoor rowing race with witnesses present. The time must be verified by Concept2 before it can be ranked, and then we will place the time up in the rankings for you.
- Can record-breaking 2000 meter times be rowed on slides?
-
No, 2000 meter record times must be rowed on indoor rowers which ARE NOT on Slides.
- What do I have to do if I think I can row a world record piece?
-
All 2000 meter record-breaking times must be rowed at a Concept2 sanctioned indoor rowing event with witnesses present. In addition all 2000 meter record-breaking times must be rowed on Concept2 Indoor Rowers without Slides.
All other record-breaking times must be single distance or timed pieces (no interval pieces) started from a non-moving flywheel. Accelerated starts from moving flywheels during intervals are not accepted as record times.
In addition, all records must meet at least one (1) of the following requirements:
- rowed in public with witnesses present who can be reached if we want confirmation of the performance - “public” defined as health club, fitness center, rowing club, indoor rowing race, trade show or regatta where Concept2 is present, school, university or special event in a public setting (ie, fundraiser in a mall, etc)
- rowed with a PM3 or PM4 with a verification code
- videotape of row
Additionally, in accordance with regulations from on-water events and indoor rowing championships around the world, lightweights must be weighed in no earlier than two(2) hours before their race. Records from lightweights weighed prior to two(2) hours before their race will not be recognized.
-
Concept2 reserves the right not to accept a row as a record.
- Where can I see all the current world records associated with the Concept2 Indoor Rower?
-
You can go to the World Ranking Records For All Distances page on our website to see the current records.
Workout History
- Where can I access my weekly and monthly rowing totals?
-
From the main logbook page, click the Summary Stats link. You will see weekly and monthly totals as well as on-water and off-water totals. Click the Full log details link to get back to your complete log.
- How can I add lifetime meters to the meter total in my logbook?
-
To enter all your life time historical meters:
- Log in to your online logbook.
- Click History.
- Under Historical Monthly Summary, click Add new historical monthly total.
- Create one entry with a lump sum total by month or by year (use any date(s) prior to May 1 of the current ranking season). Remember to change the default date to the date you want entered.
- Click Add.
When entering meters for the current ranking season (May 1 to April 30), it is best to enter each workout separately by individual date to allow for accurate average meters rowed statistics.
Honor Board
- What is the Honor Board?
-
The Honor Board is a listing of rowers based on their average meters rowed per day since the beginning of the ranking season - May 1st every year. It is divided into separate listings of those who have rowed 10,000 meters or more, 7,500-9,999 meters, 5,000-7,499 meters, 2,500-4,999 meters, and 1,500-2,499 meters. Those rowers with average daily meters less than 1,500 are not listed.
- Where is the link for the Honor Board?
-
The link for the Honor Board is on the Challenges page of the logbook. It is not included on the main logbook page because it would cause that page to load much more slowly than we like to see.
Training Partners
- What does having a “Training Partner” mean?
Becoming Training Partners enables two or more people to view each others' logbooks. There is no limit to the number of Training Partners a person can have.
- How do I add someone as a Training Partner?
To set up a Training Partner, go to your Profile page, and in the field provided under Training Partners, enter the ranking ID number for the person you’d like to have as a training partner (ranking ID numbers are located on the Profile page). That person will then see your name appear as a pending training partner on their logbook Profile page. As soon as your training partner clicks the Accept link, your partnership is established.
Once the partnership is set up, your partner's name will appear on your Profile page along with a link to a modified log page that shows the meters your partner has rowed. The modified log shows distance, time, date rowed, weight class, workout type and comments.
University/Club Standings
- What are the University/Club Standings?
-
The University/Club Standings are a listing of groups of rowers based on total number of meters rowed by all affiliation members. Each affiliation's total is reset at the beginning of every ranking season. There is no limit on the number of members in any affiliation.
- How can I add myself to an affiliation?
- Log into your logbook,
- At the top of the page, click Profile.
- Click Edit Profile.
- Under University/Club Standings Affiliation, follow the instructions to select an affiliation.
- At the bottom of the page, click Update.
If you already have meters in your logbook for the current season, all of your meters from the beginning of the season will automatically be added to the affiliation’s total. If you have not yet logged any meters, your name will not appear under your affiliation in the University/Club Standings until you log some meters for the current season.
- How can have a new affiliation added to the list of choices?
-
If you do not see the club or university name in the list and would like to add it, email the name of the new affiliation to ranking@concept2.com along with what type of affiliation it is (health club, rowing club, military, elementary school, high school, university or virtual) and we will add it to the list of choices.
Training Forum
- How do I access the Training Forum?
-
Visit www.c2forum.com. Links to the training forum can also be found from the main logbook page, the main rankings page, and from the Online Tools section on the Concept2 website. You do not need a special user name to access and read the Training Forum, but if you want to make a post, you will need to set up a user name and password for yourself.
