The World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints is a joint initiative between Concept2 and World Rowing. To take part, all you have to do is row 1000 meters on the Concept2 Indoor Rower (Model A–E Indoor Rowers only, no Dynamic or Indoor Rowers on Slides) at any point between March 4-8 and post your time to the Concept2 Online Logbook. The results are then compiled into worldwide leaderboards, so you can see how you compare with people from across the world.

Last year, over 6069 people took part from 73 separate countries, and we're hoping for even greater participation this year. For many people, this is a good annual snapshot of their fitness and standing. You can participate on your own or in an organized event. If you’re participating on your own, you need to enter your time directly into the Online Logbook by 12 p.m. GMT Tuesday, March 10. You can submit as many eligible 1000m times as you want and your fastest will automatically be the one to count. If you haven't done this before, we've put some tips at the bottom on how to set up your monitor.

Events should send their results by email to ranking@concept2.com before 12 p.m. GMT (7 a.m. ET) Tuesday, March 10. Any organization can set up an event: just set your flywheels to 1000m and cheer each other on. In order to submit results from an event, please download the multiple entry form from the Online Logbook. Note: This form is for events run under supervised conditions and not for individuals participating on their own. All results MUST be submitted by the deadline, so make sure your athletes don't miss out, as late submissions cannot be accepted. Be sure to record each time from the PM Memory, and not the final screen of the workout.

After results have been confirmed by Concept2, all participants will be able to download a specially-designed certificate which features name, time and place. The top three times in each age group will receive a medal. If you submit 10 or more results from an event held by your club or team, you’ll be entered in a raffle for a new indoor rower for your facility. For each additional 10 entries, you’ll get an extra ticket in the raffle. If you have any questions, please email ranking@concept2.com or check out the event page. Good luck!

Entering Your Result

If you have a PM5, we recommend using ErgData to upload your results to your Online Logbook. As well as making it simple to sync your workouts and giving you the greatest amount of information on your row, it will also mean your piece is automatically marked as verified. Alternatively, if you'd rather use a USB stick with your PM5, you can use the Concept2 Utility to upload your time. You can also manually enter the result direct into your online logbook.

You must set the monitor for a single distance piece of 1000m. If you don't know how to do this, check out Setting Up A Single Distance Workout. If you're using a PM3, PM4 or PM5 and are manually entering the piece, make sure you get the verification code if you want it to appear as verified. You can enter the code when you add your result to your Online Logbook. (If you've already entered your result, simply edit it, and you'll have the option to enter the code again.) For the verification code to work, the time, distance and date on your monitor need to match exactly what you entered in your online logbook, so make sure the date on the monitor is correct before you do your piece.
