Paralympic Continental Cup at Craftsbury

In the first week of January 2016, the Craftsbury Outdoor Center hosted a ParaNordic Continental Cup, including both ski and biathlon races. Competitors included members of Team USA and Team Canada as well as developing athletes. Races included categories for sit ski, standing adaptive, and visually impaired skiers. Spice Up Your Summer SkiErg Training

One of the best features of Concept2 ergs (ski or rowing) is that they accurately measure the work you’re doing. In addition, the flywheel calibrates itself on every rundown to take ambient conditions into account, so someone at altitude can compare their erg time with someone at sea level, regardless of the weather and environmental conditions.

What’s so great about this? It means you can race! You can compare your times and distances with friends and competitors in another state, country or continent. It is not easy to find athletes willing to do a maximum effort 2k on the Dynamic Indoor Rower then turn around and do it again on a Model D or E in the same season, but we are gathering as much information as people are willing to share on how times compare between the types of machines. Fortunately for us, Eric Murray of the New Zealand pair did just that with a 2k on the Dynamic Indoor Rower in January and then on a Model E last weekend at a New Zealand team test. Comparing scores between the Model D and the Dynamic erg is the subject of speculation.
