Location, Location

Real estate is all about location; your erg allows you to workout no matter what the location! While many athletes choose a dedicated workout space, a change in scenery can help mix things up and freshen up your perspective.

Concept2 RowErgs, the SkiErg and BikeErg all include caster wheels to help make them easily mobile. With no electricity needed to power it up—since you are the energy source!—our indoor fitness equipment can be easily rolled into new spaces.

Home

At home, it’s easy to get into the same routine. Consider moving your workout to a new location. If you usually exercise in front of the TV or other entertainment, try a workout where you unplug. It often can increase your awareness of your technique, breathing and focus.

Not every home has a dedicated space for exercise. (The Models D and E can separate easily for storage.) Exercise space is often found in the basement, garage, spare bedroom or living room. But we’ve also heard of customers who set up their indoor rowers in the kitchen so they are reminded to row! Other possible spaces can be outdoors such as a shed, driveway or patio.

Outdoors

A frequent complaint of indoor training is that it is just that—indoors. So take your favorite workout outdoors! All you need is stable, level ground. Roll outside so you can breathe the fresh air. It changes up the scenery and can recruit different senses—such as the feel of the wind, the smell of the air and sounds of nature.

(Long-term storage is not recommended outdoors. In the case of inclement weather such as extreme cold, extreme heat or precipitation, you’ll want to take precautions to protect your equipment—especially the Performance Monitor.)

Gyms and Health Clubs

Our Indoor Rower Finder, SkiErg Finder and BikeErg Finder can help you locate equipment at public locations. A new gym may jumpstart your training with the energy of others. Group classes can be a great way to learn new ways to train. Trying out a different facility is a great way to change up your usual routine.

Traveling

Travel doesn’t need to interrupt your good fitness habits! Our Finder tools list many public locations where you can find Concept2 equipment, including hotels, cruise lines, schools, medical facilities and boathouses. (We recommend calling in advance to find out the details for guest entry.)

Of course, there are those dedicated enough to bring along their own equipment, such as the reported long-haul trucker who brings along his Model D and trains at rest stops along his routes. For the rest of us, however, a guest workout can be a fun and different way to try a new facility, meet new people, and enjoy a change from our usual routines.
