50 Years of the Head Of The Charles Regatta

Oct 22, 2014

Concept2 CTS is back from Boston and unpacking the Regatta Service trailer after a busy Head Of The Charles Regatta.

In competition, the Great 8+s didn’t disappoint, with a courageous headwind battle of sweep rowers versus scullers. The scullers proved fastest in both the Champ Women’s and Men’s events, but that probably won’t stop speculation of what crews can dominate in the future.

The Women's Great Sculling 8+

Many thanks for our sponsored crews, the Great 8+s, for a fast and fun weekend. These composite boats of international competitors combined the best of high-caliber rowing with the best of role models in our sport.

Along with the excitement of the Great 8+s, the Head Of The Charles Regatta celebrated its 50th Anniversary, so it was even more festive than usual. Coupled with a weekend stretch of nice weather, the regatta drew over 400,000 people to the banks of the Charles River to watch the races and browse the vendor booths along the course. An added attraction was the HOCR50 History Exhibit that visually told the story of the regatta’s history.

Concept2 CTS provided on-site service for athletes' oars, and a marketing and product tent where you could demo our latest products—the new PM5 and second generation SkiErg.
