Concept2 employees are a lucky bunch: We’re able to fit in workouts during lunch breaks, in between meetings, and before and after work. The Concept2 workout room isn’t huge, but it’s a busy and practically-built space for our 80 employees to row, ski, ride, lift and train.

We asked a few employees what workouts they did last week. Here’s a peak of what happens in the Concept2 Workout Room.

1. Jameson, Customer Service

SkiErg

15 rounds of 0:30 on/0:30 off

"My goal was to improve just slightly each round. It’s both a mental and physical battle getting the flywheel to speed for short intense intervals and “gaming it” so that I have to improve on each round. I knew I only had 30 minutes to warmup, workout, cooldown and get back to work, so I knew this would get my heart rate up and make me feel like I got a good workout in."

2. Meredith, Marketing

BikeErg

3x5000m with 1’ rest in between

“I was hoping to sneak in some meters before a meeting and aimed to complete four sets (oh, well!). I like to take a break every 10 minutes or so and 5000m intervals let me get off periodically to stretch. I try to ‘meet or beat’ my last interval. The first one I’m just warming up, so it gives me a chance to dig into a workout without much prep. I just hop on and go.”

3. Kate (Oars) and Tom (Purchasing)

RowErg Partner Workout

Five Rounds:

  • Person 1 “sprints” 500m on the RowErg, person 2 does burpees
  • Person 2 “sprints” 500m on the RowErg, person 1 does burpees

The person who does the least number of total burpees loses and has to do 50 wall balls while the “winner” holds a 100 lb sand bag in a bear hug.

From Kate: “It hurt so good.”

4. John, IT

“The Ghost” Workout: RowErg

6 rounds, 1 minute per station, of:

  • Calorie Row
  • Burpees
  • Double Unders

Rest 1 minute

Give maximum effort for each movement. Note total reps after each round. No transition time between movements.

"I needed to get a workout in that would accumulate some meters for the Virtual Team Challenge. I redo this WOD (Workout Of the Day) every year and compare my scores. If you do it right, you will spend 45 seconds of that rest time on the ground gasping for air."

5. Suzanne, Marketing

RowErg:

  • Row 10 minutes
  • 10 squats
  • 10 lunges
  • 10 situps
  • 10 pushups
  • 10 Kettlebell swings

SkiErg:

  • Ski 10 minutes
  • 10 squats
  • 10 lunges
  • 10 situps
  • 10 pushups
  • 10 Kettlebell swings

BikeErg:

  • Ride 10 minutes
  • 10 squats
  • 10 lunges
  • 10 situps
  • 10 pushups
  • 10 Kettlebell swings

"This workout hits all the machines and gives a well-rounded, 40-ish minute quick and uncomplicated workout. It's perfect if you have limited time."
