Employee Profile: Greg Hammond

Greg Hammond joined the team here at Concept2 in 1996. He had come to know the Concept2 Indoor Rower quite well in his previous career in Maine as the owner of a corporate wellness consulting firm.

For nearly 10 years Greg worked in all aspects of indoor rower and oar production. His proficiency with our product line made him a perfect candidate to become one of our key “road warriors” at fitness industry trade shows and at rowing regattas providing equipment service for competing athletes. In September 2006, while he was recovering from a lacrosse injury, Greg started working with our customer service team. Today Greg continues on with both customer service and sales/ marketing as his primary responsibilities.

Greg joined the Vermont Air National Guard when he was a college freshman and served for eight years. Greg’s military experience made him an obvious choice when the US Marine Corps asked Concept2 for help using the indoor rower to evaluate their new combat conditioning protocol at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina last November. Greg has also worked with the US Navy Seals on their CrossFit certifications using the indoor rower.

One of Greg’s passions is off-road motorcycle riding. His training regimen (which includes CrossFit workouts along with 2 or 3 weekly rowing sessions) is designed around the demands of this high intensity sport. Greg started working with freestyle motocross world champion Travis Pastrana and has also developed a strong rapport with several leading MX trainers, helping them utilize the indoor rower for maximum benefit to their athletes.

Greg is a native Vermonter, born and raised in Colchester. He graduated from Johnson State College with a BS in Health Science, and was a member of the rugby and Nordic ski teams. When he is not riding his dirt bike, Greg enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, and trail running. Greg and his wife, Laurie, live in Johnson, Vermont.
