Blue Moon Row
December 31, 2009
This year's Blue Moon Challenge will take place on December 31, 2009 when we will celebrate the second full moon in December.
Since we announced the 1st Blue Moon Challenge in 2004, several customers have written to let us know that there are two different definitions of "blue moon."
- The first definition is when a full moon occurs twice in one month. In this case, the second full moon is called a blue moon.
- The second definition of a blue moon is when there are four full moons in one season, the third full moon is considered the blue moon. Indeed, it appears that this second definition is the original, and correct one—though the other definition has become more widely known.
