Pitfit recognizes the importance of upper body endurance in the sport of auto racing and utilizes the rower to achieve this with its drivers. There are very few products that allow one to build the muscles and endurance needed for such a demanding sport. Todays drivers cannot just rely on general fitness they need more. PitFit has done its homework and developed a cutting edge way to both raise the level of the sport as well as put their drivers in a class as high if not higher than any other elite athlete.
PitFit Training, Inc. was formed in 1997 after Founder and President Jim Leo perfected his craft of motorsports fitness training by working with Roger Penskes Detroit Diesel corporate wellness center. He began by working with Mr. Penkses 1994 Indycar team, who, under Leos direction, went on to convincingly claim victory in 12 of 16 races en route to the series championship. Penske Racing also dominated the Indy500 in 1994. Following his tremendous success with Penske Racing, other teams began to seek out Leos expertise. To better support the many race teams with whom he worked, Leo relocated to Indianapolis to start his now highly successful motorsports training program, where he now trains racers in more than a dozen racing series from all over the globe. The PitFit staff has grown over the years, is located in a 100,000 square foot complex that features indoor soccer, basketball and baseball. PitFit Training continues to add major national corporate sponsors and provide the one-on-one attention that has placed them at the pinnacle of customer service.
Jim Leo, Founder and CEO
Jim began his career in the world of motosports in 1993 while working for Roger Penske at Detroit Diesel's corporate wellness center in Detroit, Michigan. After requesting the opportunity to improve the fitness of the Team Penske Indycar team, Jim designed a training program as well as a cutting edge fitness center located in the Penske Racing shop in Reading, PA. In 1994, with a full winter's worth of training under their belt, Penkse Racing dominated the series to win the season championship as well as the 1994 Indy 500. In the coming years, other teams began seeking out Jim's expertise for both drivers and pit crews. In 1997 Jim started PitFit Training and relocated to the racing capitol of the world, Indianapolis, Indiana. Since then PitFit Training has added key staff and opened its own training center within the confines of the massive recreational center.
Jim continues to challenge himself physically and mentally in his never-ending quest to bring absolute peak performance to clients. In his spare time, Jim is a top local triathlete and rock climbs, kayaks, and shares his love of the Green Bay Packers and coaching legend Vince Lombardi with his three children, Emily, 14, Nathan, 11, and Nick, 10.
