Poitiers AWL France FRA The circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901.55 miles (40,075.16 kilometers).I made it. It took me 8 years and change. So now I'll go pole to pole it's a bit shorter 24859.82 miles (40008 km) so only 7 and a half years. As an update, I'm at about 25% of the pole to pole journey. Starting In Poitiers France this puts me on the edge of the north pole.

Jacksonville,NC Age Without Limits USA Thank you to the AWL team members for your encouragement and support. Currently back in the U.S. while wife does battle with cancer. So far, prognosis is excellent. Rowing has kept the my stress down. Highly recommend this activity to all. I row about an hour a day (at a good effort, 1:55 to 2:00), and I am in the best shape of my life. Participated in the FRC 2009 and met my personal goal. I was wore out after the first two weeks but watching other AWL members push themselves to the limit help me continue in my efforts. To all, enjoy the journey of life and erging. #BeatCancer

Eltham,  London GBR Joined AWL in 2007 and get plenty of motivation from the many competitions we compete in. It's also encouraging to get EM's from the team captain and other team mates about monthly team competitions, individual and club achievements. Everyone is most welcome to join AWL, we have members of all standards in all countries. The more the merrier. Just started rowing on 17th Oct after losing 2 months through injury. Happy rowing to everyone for 2009/10. Please include your EM details if you want a response to your EM, thanks.

Hoddesdon Age without limits Hertfordshire GBR With a lifetime total of 4 million meters getting very close I thought it was time to revise my profile. Having completed the 2006 Solstice in three easy parts I challenged a much younger fellow gym user to do it properly in 2007. So with a half marathon under our belts I had to accept his return challenge - the 2007 BIRC at Birmingham. Mission accopmlished got the t-shirt and the (gold) medal with a lousy time whilst he had to settle for 8th place in a personal best. Next year!!!! Since then I managed 215k in the Seasonal Challenge and expect to clock up a similar figure during January having joined 'Age Without Limits' 4th January 2008

Richmond VA USA A friend of mine got me interested in rowing when she sent me a short video of her completing a 250k challenge at her gym. She extolled the virtues of the Concept 2, including the online community. I lurked around the Concept 2 forums for a few days, where knowledgeable people shared secrets to the treatment of 'butt-blisters', and offered spirited arguments in the 'strapped' vs 'strapless' debate. Clearly, this was a community of souls with more arcane knowledge than even a gathering of Star Trek conventioneers, albeit at a much greater fitness level and tolerance for physical discomfort. The online rankings and member profiles motivate me to improve my times/distance. I am very happy with my new-found muscle tone and aerobic level, and I am confident I will be using my Concept 2 long after the restraining order keeping me more than 500 feet away from George Takei has expired.

lexington, va age without limits USA back from Greece, lost 5 weeks on the C2! I'm looking for competitive training partners on the C2 log. Anyone who's interested add me, ID #835357. Million Meter club on 6/1/2009 :) My first rowing experience was in high school, with Bill Lightbowne who crewed at Penn in the 20's. He was a brilliant engineer who designed and built a drop-in rowing rig for a racing canoe, which we used to row on Florida's choppy Intracoastal Waterway. That was 27 years ago, and started up again in March 2008. Goals: 2M meters, 1K 3:00, 2K 6:20, 5K 17:00, 10K 35:00 by year's end. I also hope to figure out a way to row on water this year, maybe with the Washington & Lee Univ club. PB: 500m 1:25.7, 1K 3:06.1, 2K 6:33.3, 5K 17:15.7, 10K 35:29.2, 30' 8457m, 60' 15,755m, 21,097m 1:20:11.5.

Waterloo, Ontario  Age Without Limits CAN July 2007 I had a nasty fall off our new prospect vaulting horse - a large grey percheron mare and injured my back. Thankfully nothing was broken. Fitness is my career, so needless to say I don't need to be falling off too many times. It has taken some time for the healing process and instead of riding I devoted my horse focus on training this horse and my daughter for equestrian vaulting. I needed something to restore my own fitness level to greater heights in addition to the classes that I teach. I had wanted a C2 for some time, and setting up fitness centres with C2's (I run 3) made the desire that much more. Finally Feb of 2008 I took the plunge, traded in my spinning cycle for a C2 D. The challenges, team participation and encouragement has been great. What a great thing Concept 2 has going. I am impressed with the running of the AWL team. I receive emails and encouragement as a team and individually - I am inspired enough that I may take my rowing to the water and participate in the Row for Heart program this summer (Heart and Stroke of Ontario). Thanks to all of you for participating in Concept 2's program so that new comers like me can come on board with such unexpected motivation from others.

Hull  East Yorkshire GBR I've been using these rowers for 15 years now, ever since I stopped smoking. Now that I am a grandparent I find that these machines are great for keeping in trim to prepare for the babysitting duties. I thought that I was getting fast, until I signed up on this website that is and started ranking my times. I split my rowing times between a local gym when I am at home and the gym on the offshore gas rig where I work. My fastest times are when I am offshore and I seem to be better with middle distances around 10k. I'm chasing my way up the leader board but I'm starting to wear out parts of my body. Thank goodness for the foam seat pads for these rowing machines.
