I am not, nor ever have been, an athlete. I am just a middle-aged guy who is trying to adopt healthier eating and living habits. I got introduced to the rowing machine at the end of 2005 and bought one in January 2006.
I used the rowing machine pretty faithfully for a few months until the weather got warm, then I started walking outdoors.
I started rowing again in earnest right after Thanksgiving 2006. I set a goal to hit the Million Meter Club by April 30, 2007 and made it. Now my goal is to row at least a million meters annually. And I'd like to row a full marathon sometime in 2008.
Update: I rowed my first Marathon on April 16, 2008 and hit the 3 million meter mark on Sept 3, 2008. I just joined a club for the Fall Rowing Challenge and just barely made my 200K Goal.
I want to work hard and see if I can hit 4 million meters by April 09 and 5 million by Dec 09.

Moved up to heavyweight courtesy of baby #3 growing inside me! Rowing is such a great exercise during pregnancy. It definitely helps keep my weight gain in check! 32 weeks on 11/14/08

Long time runner, turned to indoor workouts when I moved to the East Coast. I like the overall workout I get from rowing particularly now that I push hard. Someday I'll break 15,000 meters in 60 minutes

This ol' Viking (Norwegian--Huselid family) once progressing geometrically towards entrophy... alas now progressing towards a longer and fitter life thanks to my C2 stationed next to my bed and pointing directly at cable TV! I don't hang my clothing off of it either.
Skys the limit... I am not getting older... I am getting younger. Seriously started May 1, 2006 but many false starts. I think I have a habit of it now--nothing gets in the way of my medical treatments... ah hem... I mean rowing time--NOTHING!
Being the natural warrior I am a strong motivator to me is competition... the C2 being a true Erg I am able to accurately compare myself against other competitors (if only in my mind). I look at what other are doing and try to top them. In that respect I am like a dog chasing cars through a chain-link fence. Woof woof.
Aldri glemme hvem som egentlig oppdaget Amerika! Vi Vikings!

Rowing has become such a big part of my life! I love the new strength and stamina I have found in my body. This seems to be the *perfect* exercise for me and I plan on continuing! Someday I hope to live where there is a rowing team. From what I have read, it sounds like a blast!

I've been rowing off and on since college, when my roommate who did crew got me interested. I never joined the team for a variety of reasons (mostly because I'm not keen on 3-hour workouts that begin at 5am... more power to those of you who thrive on that kind of thing), but I've enjoyed using the erg on my own time. Otherwise in life, I enjoy teaching chemistry and refereeing volleyball. Can't argue with having summers off!
