Bensafrim-Lagos Algarve PRT Dutch born but living and working in Portugal since 1977. Took up rowing on Concept2 in April 2001 on the advice of my old track & field friend Cees Keij, after having been a sport addict most of my life. Rowing now replaces other sports like athletics -road cycling - tennis as it is much less harsh on the old joints. Fascinated by the way we can monitor results being a number freak. Not looking forward to 2.000 m. races(understatement)but with hard training managed to beat the best un-official Portuguese time in my age-group which I first equalled and in 2006 lowered to 7:02,0, and now have done 6:56,9 but feel more comfortable on the longer distances. Managed to do my first marathon in September 2005 in less than 3 hours and was ranked on all disciplines. Managed to do an average of 10.000m. a day over the 2006 season. Photo was taken in May 2009 after a 60min. test. Have now moved into the 60+ age group in August 2008 and it is a bit easier now to get high up in the rankings.

Tucson AZ USA After 27+ yrs long-distance running, switched to rowing. The "before" (start) and "after" (finish) photos are a slight bit of hyperbole, but it is in fact true that regular aerobic activity such as rowing helps a person to feel younger. Participate in c2ctc.com & nonathlon.com. Rowing renews youthful feeling, lowers bad cholesterol, raises good cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, stimulates growth of new brain cells, elevates basal metabolism, boosts immune system, benefits every organ in the body, adds time to your life expectancy, cleanses the pores of your skin, and gives you the same emotional uplift that runners experience from long distance running ("runner's high"), to mention just a few benefits

So this is my plan for the 2009 season, I am going to train hard one more year to try for the sub 7, and after that I will become sensible and do some nice recreational rowing .... Or will I find yet another goal? I Row On the Water for RV Pampus, the best place there is for rowing.

RD 2 Papakura  Auckland 2582 NZL I am 45 and a High School Economics teacher in Auckland, New Zealand. Originally from Ireland before settling in NZ in 1991 and have been using the Concept2 for the last 6 years. My main sport was field hockey and then I took up marathon running but found that my body was taking a pounding on the roads. My sister and her husband are fanatical rowers and they introduced me to the Concept2 and since then I’ve been hooked. Back on the roads again and looking now to use the C2 as a cross trainer for half marathons - just done the Auckland Half marathon and body feels good. Approaching 5.5 million metres.

Frederiksberg   DEN I bought a Concept2 model D, in november 2004, just to stay in shape. In the beginning I didn't get to use it, as much as I would have liked, but now I am getting into the habit of 3-4 weekly sessions. I am currently using the interactive 2k training program, that can be found in these pages. If anyone have any other suggestions, please drop me a note. 03/06/2006 Just rowed my first 2k test in the training program (have been out with nemonia), and exceeded my expectations. Got a 7.13 - now a sub 7 doesnt seem so far of!!! 08/07/2006 After the nemonia business, I was actually hit with a throat infection, so restarted the program about a month ago (no didn't take a 3 month brake from rowing cause of that, just didn't use the program). At the moment I feel like I could do a new PB, but I'll know before long. I recently purchased the the Suunto T6. I looks very interesting, allthough it puzzles me that I am almost unable to get into epoc zones 4 and 5 - even though I push myself to the high-end of the paceguide in the c2 interactive program (and also feel like it is exhausting). 24/10 2006 Did a involountary 2k a couple of weeks ago. Was actually trying to do a moderate paced piece, but felt ok midway, and did a new PB (7.08) - it even felt like I could have done better with preparation. very pleased :-) If I could just manage to quit smoking, I am convinced that I would go sub-7 in a heartbeat!!! Michael 2k: 7.08 6k: 23.45 Season goal (C2 2007 season) is to break 7.00 for 2K. Second is to break 18.40 for 5k

Nadi Airport   FJI It seemed I could not longer run due to a hip problem. Non impact sport therefore required to extend my career as an airline pilot. Choice was swimming or erging. Too much hassle to get to a pool and so began 8 years on a cheap rower. Finially, 3 years ago, woke up and bought a Concept2 D model along with Rowpro and its online realtime erging with plenty of company. Regret I did not do it sooner! Well done Concept2 and RowPro! Wow, what an amazing sport! brjr.williams@xtra.co.nz

Montreal QC CAN Seriously addicted to Concept2 challenges and a proud member of the RowPro Rowers. Husband Larry and I can be found erging on line most evenings towards midnight GMT and then checking out the C2 blogs or RowPro group on facebook shortly thereafter. I Rowed (on the water) as a novice in my last year of University at Western(way back in the early 80's), and am contemplating a comeback this summer. Recently completed my first marathon. I think it'll be at least another year before I consider another attempt!

Here’s the link for the next marathon: http://www.standardchartered.com/fk/marathon . Late News:- I completed my millionth metre on 31/03/2007 whilst in the Falkland Islands (again).
