Ballston Lake NY USA I am the other half of the wife-husband team on the 10,000 meter board and in Free Spirits. We stayed on the 10K board the last two years, and are somewhat less compulsive now, but we intend to finish on the 10K board again. We started erging at the suggestion of a trainer at an US Sailing symposium in 2003 that rowing was more sailing specific than elliptical machines. Like many others on the boards, a former long distance runner with defective legs. FRC2003, FRC2004YMCA, FRC2005, FRC2006

Fredericksburg TX USA Erg owner since 1988. Back in the 90's I had some top 10 placings for the 1/2 hour and 1 hour rankings and did 10 million meters from 94-98. These days I use the erg mostly for cross training but sometimes get into a groove of accumulating meters. Road cycling has been my primary sport since the 70's. I am currently riding over 12,000 miles a year and doing weekly long rides of 100 miles or more year round. If you are a road cyclist who is successfully cross training with the erg, drop me an email.

Copenhagen, Amager Free Spirits DEN Hey Free Spirit and fellow rowers. This year (2009) will be a hard year. To break any personal record will be a battle up hill. 1 year older and with a pretty nice time signature, I can only hope to do my best. Goals: 2K in 6:20, 1K sub 3 minutes. Means: More high Df rowing and weights to get up muscle-build + long rows.

colchester   GBR My goal this year is to make the world top 750 for 10k and 5k, which probably means knocking 2 minutes off my best time (update - I eventually managed it - albeit my top ranking (44th) was achieved when the season started and before any of the serious rowers had entered their best times!) Any helpful pointers or ideas for motivation would be much appreciated. A back injury set me back in early November but as I write this update (19th Nov) I'm getting back on track and looking to do the Holiday Challenge.

In February 2003 I met my fiance, who convinced me to get a little fitter so I joined a gym near work in the October of that year.
