We do a sail school for about 500 kids and this year was demanding on my time. This is combined with a 40 event race schedule. Feels good to get back into rowing. Very humbling in terms of of how fast conditioning fails. Sailing can be physically demanding at times but rowing grabs you with every stroke.

I am a 59 year old man, ex serious squash player and sometimes sculler who after two blown knees is seeking to get back into shape using my Concept 2 rowing machine faithfully. Just had my 60th birthday and believe I may be in the best shape ever due to the rowing. Here it is 12/12/07 and I have completed 166,000 meters so far for this year's Holiday Challenge. Just joined the Ancient Mariners rowing club. It will be good for me to have other rowers to check in with for encouragement.

Here I am rowing at 6 in the far crew on the River Thames about 44 years ago.
There is nothing to compare to racing on the river in a really good club crew that rows very well together. Now I row on a C2 indoors entirely on my own and belong to another really good club Row Pros Rowers.
