The circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901.55 miles (40,075.16 kilometers).I made it. It took me 8 years and change. So now I'll go pole to pole it's a bit shorter 24859.82 miles (40008 km) so only 7 and a half years.
As an update, I'm at about 25% of the pole to pole journey. Starting In Poitiers France this puts me on the edge of the north pole.

Hi everyone! I rowed in college for one year then walked away to pursue a graduate education. I came back to the erg in 2001 and became certified as an instructor through Concept2. Joined "Age Without Limits" and crossed 10 Million meters in December, 2008. This is a great community! Keep up the great work Concept2!

I first came across the rower in Hong Kong in 1993 and thought it a contraption worthy of the Spanish Inquisition. However I began using the rower seriously since january 2003and I've improved my times from 43 minutes and today 05/11/03I achieved a new personal best of 38'06.8 .
The plan is to go sub 38 minutes sometime soon!
Just want to say a big thankyou to Darren Aspin.... he ROCKS!

Rowing on the erg in a garage between rusty bikes and other junk is not always fun. This being the reason to start rowing in a real boat again.
Goals season 2010:
Pass cumulative 5kk mtrs.
10K below 40 min.
21K below 85 min.

I am a dedicated marathon runner and use the concept 2 for cross training and during the icy winter months here in Minnesota when running outside is too dangerous. I have found it to be an excellent aerobic exercise and have gained great respect for those individuals who participate in crew.

Started rowing in 2000 when I bought a model C which I switched for a model D when they came out. My PB was 6:43 a few years ago but now I'm happy when I go sub 7:15 :-(.
I didn't row so much from 2005 till september 2008 when I joined AWL. and got motivated again. Passed my 5th, 6th and 7th milion meters last season, plan to do at least 3000 km this season.

I began rowing on the C2 in Aug. 2000, Today, Oct 14 2008, I'm at 7.1 million. I row every other day and follow a self designed plan combining Wave theory from the C2,UK training manual as well as Yoga. With the C2, this is a great combination.

Started rowing on a Concept2 model B at a local Community College in 2000. After a 2yr hiatus, my wife bought me a model C for Father's day and my Birthday. Began rowing with new erg on 6/12/02. Goal for me is to get into better shape, lose weight, reduce stress and maximize well being.
Going to slow down on the Erg for the summer months... if I can! :-)

With a lifetime total of 4 million meters getting very close I thought it was time to revise my profile. Having completed the 2006 Solstice in three easy parts I challenged a much younger fellow gym user to do it properly in 2007. So with a half marathon under our belts I had to accept his return challenge - the 2007 BIRC at Birmingham. Mission accopmlished got the t-shirt and the (gold) medal with a lousy time whilst he had to settle for 8th place in a personal best. Next year!!!!
Since then I managed 215k in the Seasonal Challenge and expect to clock up a similar figure during January having joined 'Age Without Limits'
