GENERAL QUESTIONS PROFILES AND LOGGING IN LOGGING WORKOUTS IN LOGBOOK RANKING WORKOUTS AND VIEWING RANKINGS HONOR BOARD TRAINING FORUM Does the ranking use "cookies"? If you experience an inability to enter a result after creating a new profile it is usually caused by the 'cookie' setting on your browser. When you successfully create a profile and log in, our web site stores a small text file called a cookie on your computer to confirm that you have correctly logged in. If you have cookies turned off on your computer, our web site is unable to tell that you have logged in, and as a result you will be unable to create a new result under your name (you will still be able to use the ranking pages). To fix this problem, view your properties/cookies and set the option to 'accept cookies'. This should allow you to enter a new result after you have created a new profile. When do the rankings start and end each year? The Concept2 Online Ranking and Personal Logbook runs from May 1st to April 30th. Each May 1st, the previous 12 months worth of data is stored in one large access-only file, and a new year begins with a blank slate. What should I do if my email address changes? If your email address changes, you should login under your old email address login and click Edit Profile to change your profile settings. You should not create a new profile with the new email address. How do I set up additional profiles using the same email address? Log in using your email address and password. While logged in as yourself, select 'create a new profile' from the individual menu and create the profile normally - and simply enter your own email address. BE SURE TO USE A DIFFERENT PASSWORD FOR EACH ADDITIONAL PERSON'S PROFILE! The password you enter will define which person you are logged in as. Then log yourself off and log back in again as the additional person to enter times in their logbook. top What do I do if I can't remember my password? When you originally set up your profile, you entered a password hint that would be given to you if you failed to enter a password while logging in or entered the wrong password. If this hint doesn't help you remember your password, you'll need to email us at rowing@concept2.com to request your password. Please be sure to give us your full name and the email address that you use to log into the Ranking. I get the following error message when trying to access the rankings database: RANKING RESULT 2002 Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14' Could not find stored procedure 'spWRanking'. /sranking/get_wrankings.asp, line 516 This problem is usually caused by some sort of cookies trouble. The basic idea is to 'clear out your cookies' directory (usually c:windows/cookies) and then make sure that your browser is set to accept cookies. Alternatively you can try using a different browser (many times computers come with both netscape and internet explorer installed - which ever one you are currently using, try the other). I've created a new profile but I can't enter a result. I made a mistake in a workout entry? How can I correct this? You must delete that workout entry and enter it again. There is no 'Edit' function in the logbook. top Do on-water meters count toward the total for the Million Meter Club? No, only non-water pieces count toward the Million Meter Club totals. How can I delete a workout from my log? Click on the 'Delete' link next tot he workout you wish to delete in your logbook. On the next screen, you will then need to scroll down and click 'Confirm' to delete the workout from your logbook. To cover multiple past workouts, can I enter in one mass workout? Yes, you can. You may want to make a note to yourself in the 'Comments' field of your entry. How can I see last year's rankings? To see any previous year's rankings, you can either click on the link for "Historical Rankings" from this page or the Rankings page or you can enter in the year you want to view in the Rankings page criteria. top How do I rank a workout? To rank a workout, you'll first need to enter a workout in your personal logbook. In your logbook, each workout that's eligible for the ranking (being of a distance or time that matches one of the ranking categories) has a blue "rank" link in the Status column. Click on this link to rank the piece. I entered a time and ranked it to the logbook, but it doesn't show up on the Ranking. This problem is usually related to the birthdate entered in your profile. The birthdate must be entered as MM/DD/YYYY. European date formats may not display your piece in the correct age category. You may have also transposed the year in your date (ie, you entered 1397 instead of 1937). If I have a ranked piece in a given ranking category (let's say 5,000 meters) and I enter a faster time for that 5,000 meters, do I need to unrank my slower time in order to rank my faster time? When you enter a faster time and click the rank button to rank it, the slower time will automatically unrank itself so that you will only have one time ranked for that category. How do I delete a ranking piece? To delete a ranking piece, you need to click on the link for World Ranking Entries from your personal logbook. This link will take you to a list of all the pieces that you presently have in the ranking. To remove any piece click on the "remove" link in the Entry column. Can I rank an on-water piece? You will notice when you enter an on-water piece in your logbook, that the Status column will say 'Ineligible for Ranking', becuase these on-water pieces cannot be ranked. top What do "race" and "individual" sources mean on the ranking page? The entry's SOURCE field is set by Concept2 and not by an individual. RACE: entered by Concept2 into the Ranking from a race results disk IND: entered by an individual (like yourself) Why are some people listed twice in the same ranking? in some cases an individual may appear twice when they have input their own times, and then had their race results sent to us by the race organizers. We are working on a better system for consolidating records - until then you can either choose race results only or individual results only when entering ranking criteria. What does the icon mean? This means that there is a photo attached to the member's profile. Clicking the icon will display their photo. What does the icon mean? This means that you can email that person. This is a private email feature which encourages communication between ranking members, while never displaying any actual email addresses. Members can determine whether they want to receive email by setting their personal "Ranking Member Email" preference in their profile. Why isn't there a total ranking column based soley on total meters rowed? That was kind of the idea behind the current meter honor board - if you look through the various panels - you'll be able to see exactly where you stand in relation to all other rowers. We didn't want to make a 'real' distance ranking for a couple of reasons - 1. we didn't want anyone to really hurt themselves trying for the top spots... 2. we didn't want to set up a system that was too easy to abuse (put in bogus rows to inflate a persons total meters).
