10 Questions with Mike "Coach B" Burgener

The legendary "Coach B" Mike Burgener, is a Level 5 Senior International Weightlifting coach for the United States. He is a graduate of Notre Dame and obtained his MS degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Kentucky. He was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Coach Burgener is currently the head coach of CrossFit Weightlifiting. He runs Mike's Gym out of his garage, where he regularly works out with his crew of geezers and provides Olympic weightlifting coaching to athletes of all ages. Coach B took some time to answer our 10 Questions.

James Hanson is the Global Motocross Manager for Rockstar Energy Drink. He handles all of the brand's off-road motorcycle racing around the world, and loves and appreciates the fact that he is able to stay in the sport he is so passionate about.

When did you first hear the name Concept2 or try one of our products?
I knew of the (rowing) machine and that a lot of moto guys used it for training but that was about it. I then met Greg Hammond (Concept2 Sales) in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, just up the road from Loretta Lynn's Ranch and the Amateur National Championship around 2007. Concept2 Employees Learn to Scull

Concept2 is full of athletes. Some of these athletes come from the core sports of our business like rowing, Nordic skiing and cycling. Others are CrossFitters, runners, equestrians, golfers, snowboarders and tennis players. For the employees who haven’t spent much time in a boat, we make sure to offer the opportunity each summer. This year, we headed up to Craftsbury Sculling Center so that our employees with less experience behind the oar could try rowing.
