Our Regatta Service team travels to assist competitors at races all around the world. At the helm of many of our international regattas is Bob, who started working at Concept2 over 30 years ago. Bob brings his wealth of experience to help elite athletes in the World Rowing Cup series: the highest level of competition in the sport. Injury can sideline even the most well-trained athletes. Depending on the type of injury, the BikeErg can provide an alternative workout for rowing athletes. The familiar Performance Monitor on the BikeErg provides similar training feedback and workout options as the RowErg, which allows for continuity of training goals and measurement. Some coaches have even held “erg tests” for injured athletes on the BikeErg, allowing individuals to continue to train side by side with teammates. What Damper Setting Should I Use?

The damper on the side of the flywheel adjusts the airflow in and out of the flywheel on each stroke. On a higher setting, like 10, more air is allowed into the flywheel and will need to be pushed out on each stroke. On a lower setting, less air is exchanged on each stroke. The "best" damper setting—for you!—depends on your style of rowing; you may take into account the distance you’re rowing and your preferred stroke rate. Continue Reading ›
