CrossFit Rowing at Concept2

On the weekend of June 12 and 13, Concept2 hosted a CrossFit Certification on Rowing.  Fifteen CrossFitters from around the U.S. and Canada, came to Vermont to perfect their rowing skills both on and off-water.  Below is a report on the event from Terry Smythe.Terry is a Master Indoor Rowing Instructor and longtime rower.  She is the owner and founder of UCanRow2, an organization dedicated to bringing rowing to athletes of all ages and abilities.  Terry has recently taken on the job of coordinating indoor rowing instructor certification for Concept2 CTS.  Terry has worked with a diverse range of rowers, both on-water and off, for over 30 years.  She has also been known to row well over a million meters single-handedly for the World Rowing Challenge.From Terry:What do you get when you combine Concept2, Master Trainers, CrossFitters, and Craftsbury Sculling Center? The Volunteer Spirit: Firewood for Fall

The C2 Garden: Growing for Rowing

Last year we planted vegetables instead of flowers in a few of the big planter buckets that greet visitors near the front entry.  It was fun, but just a token in terms of really feeding people. This year, the whole front “yard” of our newly-purposed (now inhabited by Engineering and R&D—more on this in another post) north building has been turned into a vegetable garden!  The plan is to improve Concept2’s landscaping with edibles that will be shared among employees. Credit for this good idea goes to Trevor (Tech Support & Engineering) and Stephen (Engineering), and various other people who stop by to pick rocks and pull weeds from time to time.
