Win an oar from The Social Network

Sep 30, 2011

When Concept2 was contacted to provide oars for a major motion picture, we were excited to work with a production team insistent on authenticity. When we learned that the movie was the much anticipated film about the founding of Facebook, we were thrilled to learn that actual rowing scenes were included in the script.

The Social Network includes, arguably, one of the most dramatic and realistic portrayals of rowing in cinema (add your other favorites in the comments below). Concept2 worked with the production team to rebuild the Dutch National Team oars to help recreate their 2004 Henley Royal Regatta race against Harvard University.

These movie oars that were used on set are now a piece of Hollywood memorabilia. We’re holding a drawing at the Head of the Charles Regatta so that you can own one of these eight oars! They make an impressive decoration in your boathouse, home or workout room.

Visit the Concept2 CTS booth at the Head of the Charles to enter your name in the drawing. No purchase necessary. Winners will be called starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2011. Oars must be picked up by 4 p.m. at the Concept2 CTS tent across from the Rowing and Fitness Expo; we are unable to ship prizes.

Good luck!
