Supporting Opportunity with the “Pulling Together” Program

In rowing, the boat moves fastest when everyone pulls together: The blades enter into the water in unison propelling the boat towards the finish line. The boat responds best when athletes all “pull their weight” both figuratively and literally.

Since 2020, Concept2 has supported over 25 new and growing clubs that are pulling together to make a difference in their local communities. These teams, clubs and programs are encouraging new and diverse athletes by increasing opportunities in rowing. “Pulling Together” funding provides equipment to improve accessibility. The Zoom call rang once, then twice, and then Kate Hunt answered. She was sitting on a BikeErg, cooling down from an early morning workout. Kate is recovering from knee surgery and just completed a 10k workout. “I go to a few classes per week, which is good because it makes me work a little harder,” she says. And the hard work is necessary because Kate’s aim is another iron-distance triathlon: a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run endurance event.
