Concept2 recently attended the Rowing Canada Conference in London, Ontario, where the topic of subzero temperatures was as much a part of the daily conversation as rowing. Despite the weather, the event was well attended and proved to be a great opportunity for Concept2 to connect with coaches and athletes from all over North America.
Bob Beeman, who works production for Concept2, was able to join in at the convention as a speaker. Bob presented a step-by-step guide to using the Concept2 Pitch Check to double check sleeve pitch, to replace a blade, or to replace a sleeve. He also shared some stories about his early days at Concept2 since he was hired over 30 years ago. For more information on using a Pitch Check and oar repairs please visit our video library and see Checking and Setting Pitch at the Sleeve.
Aside from the convention, Bob and I were able to take a tour of Hudson Boat Works’ factory, based in London, Ontario. It was a real treat to see the production of carbon boats from start to finish. Though the scale is much greater than making oars, there were numerous similarities between Hudson’s production and Concept2 processes. Concept2 continues to support Rowing Canada as they prepare for a great summer of international racing, and we look forward to seeing them this summer overseas at the following races that we will be attending to provide regatta service.
