This coming Sunday, Jon Williams will pass a significant milestone: he will become the first employee to have completed 30 years with Concept2. Since he won’t be here working on Sunday, we celebrated a few days early today at the end of our weekly staff meeting. Here’s Jon enjoying a piece of cake.
Jon had been working as a bike mechanic when Pete and Dick first asked him if he’d like to join their young business. At first he said no…not yet convinced of the young company’s chances for survival and success. But then he decided to take a chance on us, and he has been very happy with his decision. As he explained at the celebration, “It’s the people that make this place such a great place to work. It starts with the Founders and trickles down to everyone. So thank you all for being such great people to work with.”
And thank you, Jon, for your thirty years of great work—from your early days of helping to invent the very first Concept2 Rowing Ergometer (the Model A) to your ongoing work in R&D and product development. As someone reminded you this morning, you’ve now been with us for over half your life. Wow! Thank you!
