Boomers & Senior Expo

Nov 22, 2011

Concept2 had a great weekend in Boston at the New England Boomers and Seniors Expo, held October 29–30 at the Seaport World Trade Center Boston, despite low attendance due to an unexpected fall storm. The record-breaking storm dumped heavy, wet snow across southern New England, prompting Governor Deval Patrick to declare a state of emergency. Many prospective attendees wisely stayed off the unsafe roads.

Despite the weather, Concept2 kept rowing along with certified indoor rowing instructor Lowell Caylor. A former defensive back on the 1964 Cleveland Browns World Championship team, it is no surprise that Lowell attracted the attention of local supporters, the Patriots cheerleaders! They even put down their pompoms to take a few strong strokes.

The New England Boomers & Seniors Expo is as much a social event as it is an opportunity for mature New Englanders to gather important information on everything from travel and financial planning to health and wellness.

We hope this event sees only sunny skies in future years, because it was a great chance to introduce rowing as a perfect low-impact exercise for aging adults!

Today is QUITE the day for the #SkiErg 2K world record. Starting with @kate_hilliard of @98rileystgym taking 11 seconds off of her OWN record. Followed by @bigphil90 knocking over 9 seconds off of the impressive men’s record held by @garageathlete. Seeing the envelop pushed by such huge amounts in one day is fantastic. Will we see woman go sub 7 first? Or men go sub 6 first? We can’t wait to see either way. Awesome efforts to all. #Concept2 #WorldRecord
