For the past eight years, Concept2 has been participating in the annual Chris’ Challenge Turkey Drive—a Thanksgiving food drive organized by our local country music radio station, WLVB. The Turkey Drive was started by Chris Potter in an effort to help the Lamoille County Food Share. In its first year, 250 turkeys were donated. Sadly, Chris passed away after that first year, but WLVB decided it was such a great thing they wanted to continue with it.
Last year over 1350 Turkeys were donated. The final numbers aren't in yet for this year, but they are well over that amount. Since its start in 2000, the Turkey Drive has expanded to include four food shelves: Woodbury, Hardwick, Johnson and the Lamoille County Food Share. Those food shelves serve 22 communities in our Lamoille Valley Region. Concept2 first participated in 2008 with a donation of 25 turkeys. This year we’re up to 100! This is one of many donations made annually by our employee Donations Team. We focus our donations in Vermont in general, and our local communities in particular. WLVB provides a number of services to the listening area. Here’s the way they sum it up on their website: “Take the Most Popular Music Format in the Country. Add Commitment to the Local Economy and Involvement in the Community, and You Get Lamoille County’s Most Listened-To Radio Station.” We’re happy to partner with such a great local organization.
